Architecture Competitions

In 2015 I worked with Max Boerman on the 'Beautiful House Competition', Which was a competition on designing certain beauty in a house design. We were inspired by Libeskind kind of architecture:

Beautiful to us means ‘an entity that synthesizes with its surroundings and yet contrasts it to be unique’.

The architectural proposal is in contrast with the fluid landscape to emphasize the design. In plan the design is an ‘s-shaped’ building, one side open to the surroundings and one side enclosing a private garden. The composition is a combination of various blocks that are ‘shifted’ into each other, creating various spaces that offer privacy but are still open to one another. The exterior of the different building blocks are connected, creating a continues, wooden wave. These wave is closed off with transparent and mirroring materials. For the disabled person to still move around in all of the building, several ramps connect the various spaces with each other. The angle of the ramps have been guiding in the shape of the building blocks.
